Q: Time setting in DM800 and DM8000. Can not seem to set the time.
A: In both the DM800 and DM8000 the only possible GUI based time
setting is the time zone only. You can not set the time without Linux
command line strings. And even then, once a sat signal is received the
Enigma2 software resets the time to UTC with whatever offset has been set by the user in the
GUI. (UTC + 10 for Melbourne).
Ive noticed that my DreamBox does not change time depending what satellite I am looking at
as satellites use UTC time. Some services do however broadcast EPG information with a local time stamp
included for the area they intend to cover, therefore the EPG may display the
incorrect time for the program depending on your location.
These tests were done on the latest release firmware from Dream Media as at
16/2/10 (2.6.2 and 2.6.1), and then the latest release Gemini images
(4.6)

However, it seems to be related to using Skins. The behaviour stems more from when you use multiple satellites and the DM800/8000 looks at the data on the stream and assumes it is local time from that
satellite. I have resolved this by deleting most skins and it resets itself and works
100%. I have not lost time anymore even when I turn off the DM8000/800.

Q: Can DM7025 stream video over my ethernet network ?
A: Yes. Indeed customer "Brett R." has advised that even the streaming of the
High Definition HD channels broadcast on Optus D1 from their Dreambox to
their LAN works well. Even though the Dreambox will not decode
High Definition satellite TV it has no problem streaming it to the network.
This has been sucessfully decoded with a PC running VLC or simply Nero Media Player. There
may even be a codec out there that you can plug into the Dreambox to do the same.
Please let us know if you have used a codec that can do this.
-
Q: Can I use a DM7025 TV Tuner card in my DM7000 ?
A: No. the tuner is different.
-
Q:Does DM7025 have Component Video Output ?
A: DM7025 has a SCART connector that can do it. There is a version of SCART
that supports YPbPr. This is fairly simple to use as all it requires is a standard component RGB cable. You just need to set the Dreambox O/P properties to YPbPr in the A/V setup of the GUI. I am using a Gemini Image (not approved by Dream Media). However, I'm sure the standard Dreambox image also supports this feature as Gemini seems to have left all the setup features from the original image as
is.

Q:How do I add extra satellite details to the satellite list on my
DM600PVR ?
A: To add new satellite details such as Optus C1 for example modify the satellites.xml file in
the /var/etc directory.
-
Q:Are Remote Controls interchangeable between models ?
A: The large remote control is the same for
DM500HD,DM7000,DM7020,DM7025 and DM8000.
Many Dreambox clones and Dreambox clone remote controls are not compatible and will not work. For example DM518S
clone remote will not work with DM500HD. This can result in a lot of confusion
and service costs often in exess of the cost of a copied Dreambox product. So avoid clone products for less
long term hassles and unpredictable operational uncertainty.
