What is Real Audio all about ?

Real Audio is an encoding scheme and associated playback system that allows playing audio over the internet in real time.

It requires a 14.4k modem to transfer the necessary data rate of 1kb per second.

You will need a soundcard to run it.

Where can you get the necessary playback program ?

How do I install it?

Run RAWIN100.EXE in a temporary directory. It is a self extracting archive. Then perform one of the following three typical methods of installation:

  • From Windows select File:Run:Browse
    Find the directory where your web browser saved the file
    Select RAWIN100.EXE
    Choose Okay to execute the file
  • OR you can use File Manager
    In File Manager find the directory where your web browser saved the file
    Double Click on RAWIN100.EXE
  • OR if you are using Windows 95
    From the Start Menu select Run
    Select Browse
    Find the directory where your web browser saved the file
    Choose Okay to execute the file

    What can you listen to ?

    Any Real Audio sound files identified by the extension ".ra". Once you finished the installation, try out some of the following sound sites. You will be surprised what's available !

  • Audionet Radio, Sports and LOTS more.

  • Game Reviews and Infomation. Lots of talk here !
